               I will give you an example : I want to learn Flash, especially coding, but I cannot find an website were I can learn that. All I have found are those tutorials where the author tells you only to copy and paste the code into your document. Well, this is not a good way to learn, because I want to know what that code means. Maybe I want to do something by myself.

Step 1:
We're going to start by creating the chessboard first.
So, create a box with the settings shown in the image.
The number and size of the subdivisions will help us determine the position and size for our pieces.

When done, convert it down to an editable poly.

Step 2:
Let's now give our board a better look.
under the polygon sub object level, select a polygon from the ones on the side, then hold shift and click one next to it (see image)

Step 3:
Extrude the selected polygons (make sure the type is set to local normal like bellow)

Step 4:
Select the four edges in the corners and chamfer them with an amount of 10.

do the same to the ones in the images bellow.

Now we're done with the board, so freeze it (right click --> object properties, check "Freeze" and uncheck "Show Frozen in Grey" and click OK).
Now let us move on and make our pieces.

Step 4:
OK, we will make the Pawn first.
Start by creating a cylinder in the position and with the parameters in the images.

Step 5:
Now follow the images.

Step 6:
Now create a sphere and put it on the top of the pawn like this.

Step 7:
Then select the pawn and click on "Attach" and select the sphere

Step 8:
Now we need to chamfer some edges. Select the ones shown in the image bellow.

Step 9:
Apply a mesh smooth modifier to the pawn, with a number of iterations of 2. And we're done with the pawn.

Step 10:
Great, now we have to do the whole operation to create all the 15 other pawns (what the...!! is this guy crazy) OK! OK! just kidding.
hold shift and drag the pawn to the next position and change the number to 7 instances, and again to create the other row of pawns(see images)

OK now just hide all of the pawns, and let's make the rook.
It's pretty much the same manipulation as the pawn, so I'm going to repeat just this once, because there's no point of repeating over and over.
so less talk more rock...

Step 12:
Make a cylinder again with the radius this time a little bit bigger than the pawn.

Step 13:
This time we won't delete that polygon, and we will work with extrude.

I did an insert here, then I'll extrude just a little bit, then scale.

insert and up just a little bit.

Step 14:
Now select three polygons, leave one, then select three and leave one...

Step 15:
Now let's chamfer some edges.

Step 16:
Now carefully select these edges.

When you're done chamfer them too.

Step 17:
And finally, let's add a Mesh Smooth modifier to see the result.

I will leave the Knight until the end, and now I'll make the bishop.

OK, as i said before, there's no need to repeat everything, so I'll jump to here
(I just copied a pawn, and made some adjustments to it)

Now Scale out

Now let's make the head.
First create a new sphere an put it like this

From the modifier list, choose FFD 3x3x3, then choose Control Points

Now by moving, scaling them, try to get this shape (it's a very easy manipulation)

Create a box and try to place it like this

Select the sphere again then go to (create-> Compound Objects -> boolean)

Step 26:
Click on "Pick Operand B" then select The box.

Step 27:
Create a little sphere on top of his head.

Step 28:
We're almost done.
Now you have to select the head of the bishop (it's important to select the head)
then click on the little square near "Attach".

Step 29:
then choose both the little sphere and the body of the bishop, then click attach.
And we're done with the bishop.

Step 30:
The queen has the exact same body as the bishop, except for the head, and she's also bigger and fatter XD.

Follow the images

Step 31:
Select these vertices then click Weld.(there are 24 before welding and 12 after)

then weld these ones

and repeat that to get this

lift the inside vertices, just a bit to get a cool shape.

Select and chamfer these edges.

Now we have to weld some vertices.

Create two new spheres like this.

We now arrive to the hardest piece, the night.
If you search through the web you'll find that the only piece of chess that's got a lot of variants is the knight,
so to ensure that we're doing the same thing, i think it's better if we use a reference image, and here's the one that i suggest.

start in the side view by creating a plan with the same dimensions as our reference image(1697x1131).

Step 42:
Open your material editor, and click on the little square near diffuse

from the pop-up menu, choose bitmap, then choose the image and click open.

Step 43:
Assign the material to the plan, then click on "Show shaded material in viewport"

freeze the plan, and we're done setting up our reference image.

Step 44:
Create a cylinder as shown in the image.

Step 45:
it has to be placed very well, so right click with your mouse, then click the little square in front of move, then put 0 on x and y.

Step 46:
Convert the cylinder to an editable poly.
Start following the shape of the piece by extruding the top polygon (you can hit "alt+x" to make the cylinder transparent).

Things are not going to stay round and easy(check your top and front views)

Step 47:
Delete this polygon (we're going to proceed by extruding edges.

Step 48:
Oh! i forgot something. Don't worry if the other side of the piece doesn't match, we will fix that by applying
a symmetry modifier, let's do it right now.
From the modifier list, choose symmetry

Here are the parameters that worked for me.

Try to use you're imagination to follow the topologies of the piece.

Select these edges, then connect them

Cap this border.

Sorry, I'll do some modifications.
I'll remove some edges.

And, continue.

I didn't found a blueprint which doesn't match, I took a blueprint for one of my readers. He asked for this tutorial and I will use his blueprints .

1. Open this blueprint, using Photoshop :

2. We will start the top the car. Select the top of the car, then right click on it and choose > Layer via copy

3. Now lower the oppacity of this layer at 35% and place it over the side of the car. You need to place it like below. To fit the spoiler lines. If this will fit, you don't need to modify it.

4. BUT, you can be more precice. You can see if the details will fit. Having the layer in the same place. Check if the middle of the car lines (fron the top view) are the same with the lines from the side view . Always check the middle lines from the top, front and rear view. Select the MOVE tool and press the UP arrow key and check if these detailes matches . Use only the UP & DOWN keys.
The bottom of the windshield is good :

5. And here are some other details that you can check : trunk lines, hood, lines, door lines. Some edges are overlapped and is a little bit to see them, but if you will use only the UP and DOWN key you will know about what I am talking :

6. Now let's check the front view. If it will fit on the side view, it will also fitting with the top view. So, do the same thing. Select the front view using select tool > and choose "Layer via copy". Then put the new layer over the side view and we will take as starting point the highest point possible. Pick the middle of the front view, and put in over the highest point of the side view. Like below :

7. Use ONLY the LEFT & RIGHT arrow keys to check if it fits :

Here is the corner of the headlights :

8. My reader said that the trunk isn't fitting, so , lets check. Do the same thing like on the front view. Pick the highest point and so on ... :

9. Well, everything is fitting. Now we need to import them in 3DS Max. I know that I saw a tutorial where the author showed a method. But that method works only if you have cutted the blueprints correctly. Well, I didn't cutted them cirreclty and it will be better if you will download the same blueprints from HERE. Like this we will use the same blueprints.

10. Open 3DS Max and make a plane with the same dimensions like the Top View Image. ( 1638 x 750 ). Do this in the top viewport

11. Now make the side plane in the left viewport. Make it with the same dimension as for the side view (1638 x 572)

12. Make those other 2 views and place them like below, don't forget to check the image size before :

13. Well, in that tutorial that I have saw, the author placed the blueprints and started to model. Its not so simple if you didn't cutted the blueprint correctly. Pick 4 materials and at each material click on the little square from "Diffuse" > Bitmap > and pick your desired blueprint (top,side,front, rear)

14. Click this button to see the texture in the viewport.

15. Maybe you will get something like this (first image). The entire blueprint is messed up. Let's fix it . Click on the top view plane for example and choose from the modifier menu UVW Xform, and you will see a rotation option in the menu. Put -90.0 like me, to have the front of the car pointed to the front viewport.

16. Do the same thing for the other planes. Use only "90.0" or "-90.0" as rotation degree.

17. I am sure that you say that the blueprint have a bad quality in the viewport. Lets fix that too : go to Views > Show Materials in Viewport As > Hardware Display with Maps

18. Be sure that you are in Orthographic view and not Perspective .Now we will do the same thing that we made in Photoshop. Lets start with the side view. Be sure that the side view is in the middle of the top view (the car logo place is not exactly in the middle, so don't pick that point as a guid. Pick the middle of the windshield)and the side view plane pass through the middle of the front and rear view :

19. Use the Y & Z (green and blue) axis to move the highest point of the front view to the highest point of the side view

20. Now drag the front view forward to see if the lines ar fitting , like below. Use only the Y axis (the green one):

21. Do the same thing with the rear view. Move the highest point of the rear view to the highest point of the sideview using only the Y an Z axis. Then drag the rear view to the end of the car to see if it fits. Mine it fits, you can check below

22. The last plane, the top view. In the viewport, you have a part of the cube which need to be clicked. The part between top part of the cube and the right part. Its a small block. You can see it below . But just click it, don't move it. Put the cursor over until that part will be highlighted and just click

23. Now you need to use 2 viewports . Again, use only the Y and Z axis. Don't use the red one. In the left viewport, use the Z axis to lift up the top view and in the right viewport I am watching my blueprint. Lift up until you can see if the front bumper fits.

24. As you can see, its not . Just use the green axis to drag it a little bit to the rear of the car , to fit the front spoiler lines. If the front will fit, the rear will fit too. We already checked that in Photoshop

25. Now use the blue axis to drag down the top view , to bring it back to the same level as before. But use inly the blue axis.

26. The last thing before modeling is this. Select all the planes > right click > object properties > check the "Freeze" box and uncheck the "Show fronzen in gray" box. And then press ok. By doing this, you cannot move the blueprint, so you don't need to worry that you will move the accidentaly. You can try , just try to select on of the planes and you will see that you can't .

 I will start with the first one. First step is to opne your scene and go to “Customize” then choose “Preferences”. A window like below should appear :

Now, in the viewport tab, press on the “Choose Driver” button and be sure that you have these settings. If you have dx10 I would recommend to use dx9. For 3DS Max its better. If you will use dx10 you will see some strange triangles on the mesh.

Then click on the “ok” button. You will receive a message that you need to restart 3ds max. Now press on the “configure driver” button and put these values :

If you will have some higher values , put them but don’t forget to check the little boxes. Then save your scene and restart 3DS Max and voila, the blueprint have a better quality.
The second way is faster . You need to place your blueprints in your scene then go to Views > Show Materials in Viewport As > Hardware Display with Maps

Let's start

1. Below you have the model that we have made in the first part of the tutorial. If you have followed the tutorial as I said, you should have the same mesh as me. I will apply the texture only on one side of the car the we will use symmetry. You can use symmetry before then you can make the texture but as you wish. If you didn't followed the first tutorial and you want to follow this one, CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE HALF OF THE CAR.

2. I need to say that i have made the headlights and the tailights. It is better like this. Here yu have a wireframe which will help you to model the same headlights and taillights as me

3. Attach the car's body to the hood, mirror, doors, bumpers, side skirts and trunk to make a single object.

4. Now, having the entire car's body selected, choose from modifier list "unwrap uvw" , then select "Face"

5. Now press CTRL + A to select all the faces. Then press the "Edit..." button

6. A window like this will appear ( you will not have the same thing as me, but its ok, I have tried something before, and do what I say )

7. Go to Mapping ang choose "Flatten Mapping" . A small window will appear.

8. After you have pressed the "OK" button, you can see that the car parts are divided in many pieces and it will take a lot of time to make that "puzzle".

9. Now pay attention. I will select the side faces, because I wan't to assing the texture on the car side. So, what you need to do, is to select all the faces which are on the side. Check the images. Be carefull to not select another faces. I also posted in the 3rd image, how you need to select the faces. Select al the side faces, and the faces which result from chamfering method.

10. Now go back in the "Edit UVWs" window, (if you have closed that window just press "Edit..." button again. But keep the faces still selected. Then, when you have the polygons selected. But its the same "puzzle"

11. Go to Mapping , and choose normal mapping. A small window will appear. There you need to choose "Left/Right Mapping" . Like this, the car shape will be made from left to right. By the way, for the bumpers and hood, maybe you will need another type. Back/Front Mapping or Top/Bottom Mapping. Depends.

12. After you have pressed OK, you should have the side shape on the car. Like in the image. Keep it selected.

13. Keeping those faces selected, using "Move" pull out the faces from that square,

14. Do the same thing for the front and rear bumper, hood and roof. Select the polygons, then go to Mapping > Normal mapping. And select the best option between Left/Right Mapping, Back/Front Mapping or Top/Bottom Mapping. Then when you are done with a part, drag it out from that square. Doesn't matter if its biiger than car's body.

A) A short description for every part . I didn't selected some faces. Do the same as me, I will explain later.

now select the rest of the polygons from the front bumper. In edit UVW's window, place them below front bumper. Like this, you know that those polygons are from Front bumper.

B) Rear bumper

I have divided the rear bumper in 3 sections, The part which is visible from the side, the part which is visible in the back and other polygons. Its not a complex texturing because as I said , this is a basic tutorial, to learn the how to work with unwrap uvw's. This is the side part. Viewport and Edti UVW's

C) The hood

D) The roof

E) The trunk. I have divided the trunk in 2 parts, the top one, and the rear one. Here is the top one

F) I almost forgot, here is the side mirror

15. Until now, you should have this. We have done a part of our puzzle, But you still have some pieces which take too much time and I don't have that time. So, select those small pieces if you want, then look in the viewport and you will see where are those faces. But in this tutorial i will make all black, and if I will need to change some colours I will tell you. I hope that there will not be problems. Here is the unsolved (yet) "puzzle"

16. Select all those tiny parts, then pull out from that square.

17. Now we need to put those car parts into the square. Here you can them how do you want. First thin what kind of layout you will want to make the layout. After you have decided, choose the best method for you to arrange the faces. You can use scale, move, rotate. Here is mine

18. As I said, I will put all those little pieces in a corner and I will make all black. We shouldn't see them in the render, but if we will see, we will modify. Thanks God that I have patience. I have change my parts positions because you need to use all your space that you have.

19. If we want to make a texture in Photoshop, we need to render these uvw's. We will make a decent texture, 1500x1500. If you want bigger, or smaller, its your choice. It will be the same steps. In "Edit UVWs" window, go to Tools > Render UVs. A small window will appear. Like this one

20. Make the same settings as me. At width and height, put the size of the image, the rezolution. I will put 1500x1500 but if you want smaller or bigger you can put what rezolution you want. Below at "Mode", choose "Solid". Uncheck the box from "Show Overlap". Here you have the settings

21. Now press the "Render UV Template" button and you should have this render

22. Save that render as jpg. You can put what name do you want, but make a new folder where you have the texture for the car.

23. Open the render (the image). I have used Photoshop CS3. You can use what photo editor you want.

24. Duplicat your "background" layer. After you have duplicate it. Hide the first one (first from the bottom)

25. Using "Magic wand tool" click on the black area to select it. For selecting aditional holes, hold shift (you will see that the cursor will have a little +) then click.

26. Now go to Select, and choose "Inverse", then press delete and you should have this

27. To deselect, go to Select and choose "deselect" , or right click, and choose deselect. Now make a new layer, an place him between the background and this duplicated layer.

28. Now, on this layer you can create your design. You can create additional layers if you need, add some text. The first layer will be like a mask. Here is mine.

29. As you can see, there are sone green borders. You need apply the same colour on those borders. Here you have an image and it shous you how it should be

30. I am showing only ofr the body. For the other steps, its the same thing (for tyres, lights, windows,etc.)

31. Now let's assign this texture on the 3D model and preparing te material for rendering. Save this texture as .jpg .Then we come back in 3DS Max.

Material editor - making the car paint effect

32. In 3DS Max, open the material editor, and pick a material. Click on the "Standard" button, then choose VrayBlendMtl. You will see that the material properties are changed into this :

33. Click on the base material button. This will open another window. This kind of window, like on a basic material :

34. Now click on that "Standard" button that i have dindicated on the above picture, and choose "VrayMtl".

35. At diffuse, click on that empty square, and choose bitmap. This will automaticaly open a new window where you can chooseyour texture that you have made in Photoshop. After you have choosed the texture, press the indicated button to go back :

36. Click on that square from "reflection" then choose "VrayColor" and put these settings :

37. Now press on the square from "Highlight glossiness" (see first picture), the choose "Speckle". Leave the settings as they are.

38. Now be sure that you have the same settings as me (check the values, boxes if are checked , etc)

Then go to the first settings page and click on None button

Click on the standard button and choose VrayMtl and make the same settings :

39. Do the same thing for other parts, but change the material setting. Play with those settings because i cannot explain how you can make all the materials.

Like in the the other tutorial, I've made the starting file which can be downloaded from HERE (its for 3ds max 2009 - or newer version). But if you want, you can download the blueprints from HERE and you can put them how do you want.

Let's start :

1. Open the "Start" file which you have downloaded. You should have something like this :

2. Now i will post only images and i will show you how to model it. I don't think that is necesary to write at each step "hold shift and drag". Because its the same thing until to the next step. Just follow the images, be sure that the vertex or vertices are in the same spot in every viewport and try to not make triangles on the project. If you to make your plane transparent, just press Alt+X. And one of the most important thing if you are a beginner, don't forget to weld the vertices.

3. I have created the middle eges using Connect. Select all the vertical edges then connect them.

4. Continue with the basic modeling. First we will do the shape, then the details.

5. Use Connect to connect the same edges as me. Be careful to not move the edges.

6. Let's continue

7. Sorry about this but you need to delete the selected polygons, sorry i didn't realized something. Its more easy to delete some poligons instead to make again the images for the tutorial. Sorry again.

8. I've made before this model and i will change the front bumper a little bit ... i like more like this. Let's go back to modeling and you will see , i think that its more nice than the stock model. It's nothing fancy. If you want you can make it how do you want but after i will finish this tutorial i will make another one and i will explain how to texture the car and its more easy if we have the same model.

9. Like i said earlier, i will not make the stock front bumper, because i will make a racing layout for our bmw, and will be more nicely if we will change some small details . Hope this will not make the tutorial harder. Move the vertices just like me and will be fine.

10. Select the same edges as me

11. Hold shift and drag them inside.

12. Now just put the vertices from the back in their places

13. Select those 2 edges which are in the picture and a "bridge" between them.

14. Back to basic modeling. We will do altmost the same thing for the central hole, so I will not explain again. Its useless to do it.

15. Connect those edges

16. Drag those vertices a little bit to the interior

17. I've moved those vertices a little bit to make more space between them. You can also do it but be very carefuly to not mess up the shape.

18. Select the same edges as me and give them a 0.3 chamfer

19. Connect the same edges as me

20. Chamfer de same edges as me with a 1.5 chamfer

21. IMPORTANT STEP. AS I SAID AT THE BEGINNING, DON'T USE TRIANGLES. SORRY IF I USED IN THE AUDI TT TUTORIAL, I WAS AND I AM A BEGINNER. SO, AFTER EACH CHAMFER WHICH YOU MAKE, VERIFY IF YOU HAVE TRIANGLES ON THE CHAMFERED EDGE. LOOK IN THE BELOW PICTURE.

IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING LIKE THIS, USE WELD TO WELD THE VERTICES.

22. Instead, if its a square like below, its ok

23. Do the same thing for the central hole and don't forget what i said about the triangles.

24. Now we will go back to the upper part

25. Now make that chrome ring, just like in the picture

26. After you made that, connect all the the edges from the crome ring, then drag the new edge just a little bit to the exterior... just a little but...

27. Choose the same edges as me, and give them a 0.5 extrude

28. Now , at the left pannel, you have 2 vertices veri close one to another and this we will see on the render. Move the vertices and make some distance between them.

29. We will create that space between hood, panel and bumper, so do the same thing like me. Select the same edges as me, then give a 0.8 chamfer and check the OPEN box

30. Weld those2 vertices

31. Now, look at the center. Remove this edge. After you remove the edge, you will also need to remove the 2 vertices from each end.

32. Starting from this line,

make new edges like this, using cut.

33. Select the same polygons as me and detach them. After you detach those polys, just hide that part for the moment.

34. Near the headlight

35. Select the same edges as me, then put an 0.5 chamfer on them.

36. Drag the selected edges to the interior just a little bit

37. Chamfer this edges with 1.0

38. Weld the vertices like this

39. MAKING THE HEADLIGHT CASE. Drag the edges to the interior

40. Unhide the other part.

41. Having this shape selected. choose from modifier list, SHELL. And then put the same values like below.

42. You should have this

43. Now convert this shape into an editable poly and delete the same poly that are selected in the images. ( I just hide the front bumper to show you what polygons you need to delete)

44. Chamfer this edge (at chamfer amount, put 0.5)

45. Now chamfer this edge with the same amount (0,5)

46. After those chamfering steps, you should have a triangle here. Just weld the vertices ans everything will be just honey and milk

47. Select the same edges as me, then drag them to the interior

48. Select the both parts, then from modifier list, choose "edit poly"

49. Now, after you have choosed "edit poly" from modifier list, select the same polygons then detach them.

50. After you have detached the polygons, you have the 2 parts still selected. Convert them into an editable poly. (sorry i don't have a picture for this step, lol )

51. Hide the front bumper and the other part and you should have this :

52. There are 2 objects. Attach them one to another. Then check the corners. You need to weld some vertices.

53. Select the edge from the right corner and choose a 0.5 chamfer for that edge.

54. Now we will focus on the headlight. Drag the same edges as me to the interior

55. From the tup view, be sure that you have the vertices like me. If not, them move the vertices like in the picture

56.Select border from modifier menu, the choose the back border of the headlight.

57. Now, press "Cap" and you should have this.

58. Using Cut, just connect a few of those endge.

59. Using the blueprint, (looking at the blueprint) create 2 cylinders to make those 2 light and put them at their place. At height height segments, put 1, at cap segments put also 1 and at sides, you can use 18. Convert the cylinders into an editable poly then delete the polygon which is in the back.

60. I will not make details on the those cylinders because i will use texture. Now make the other part of the headlight, the orange one (lol - but i don't know how its called in english laguage). You can also use images of the BMW 1 series to make the details of teh car. If you want , you can create that light starting from a plane.

where you see 2 edges very closed on to another (left side of the orange light) its because i chamfered those edges.

poza 61. Now all we need is to make the glass for the headlight and we ar done for the moment with the headlight. Like in the back side. Use "Cap" to close that hole.

62. Now detach the polygon which will compose the glass, flip it (by pressing the "flip" button") and make a similar shape like mine, or search on google for some images (don't move the vertices which are in the edge, in the interior you can model how do you want, but on the border (on the edges) don't move the edges because when you will apply a smooth modifier, the object will have another shape. You can use cut or whatever you want to make more edges, but as I said. Don't modify the border (contour) of the object, and don't add extra vertices on the contour. Here you have my shape. Check all 4 images to see from a different angle.

63. We are done with the headlight for now, we will come back when we will put texture on it. Let's try to make that kind of grill from the "nose" . Grab and drag to the interior, the same edges as me. Then choose the border and press Cap to close the hole.

64. There are some vertices which need to be welded. Let's do it. If you have followed the tutorial step by step then should have the same shape like below and you need to weld the selected vertices.

65. After you hace welded the vertices, here is how you result should be

66. Do the same thing on the other side with those vertices.

67. Detach this polygons

68.Now detach this polygons. Btw you can put what name do you want on the detached parts. We detach those parts, because at the final will be more easy to put materials on them, or if we need to put texture, we just reatach the parts and its ok

69. Hide all the parts and leave just the chromes grill and this part (check the image).

70. Select those 2 objects, and press alt+x to make them transparent if they aren't. The make a box just like me. On this object we will not put a smooth modifier, and add some segments because we will bend it and we want to have a rounded shape,

71. Hold shift and drag the shape to right. A small window will appear. At amount of copies pot 10, or if you want put more. This will create a 11 copies of the first object with an equal distance between them.

72. Now select one of the boxes, convert that box that you have choosed into an editable poly, then atach it to the other boxes.

73. Having the boxes (a single object) selected, choose from modifier menu, FFD 3x3x3. Then, click on the control point and use them to make a bended shape of the grill. I hope that you have used this modifier before because i will not explain where you need to put each point because the tutorial is already is very detailed. I will post only images.

74. Now the last thing on the spoiler (thanks God) . Create a plane place it on the holes where we will put a grill texture. Check the images to see about what im talking.

75. We are done with the front spoiler. Apply a smooth modifier on the bumper, headlight glass, headlight case, orange light (even now i don't know his name ) and on the chromed ring. I have use mesh smooth, with Literations 1 i have this

and with Literations 2 i have this

76. You need to weld the vertices wich are selected in the image. In teh next step i will explain you how to do it.

77. Do it like this. Select the first pair of vertices

78. Now, click on the little square from weld, then put an amount to weld those vertices. You don't need to put 1.297 like me, if you have a bigger space between the vertices you will need a bigger amount.

79. Do the same thing for the other vertices. You should have this

80. Now just continue with the basic modeling .

81. Connect the same edges as me, then drag the selected vertices just a little bit to the interior

82. Continue with the basic poly modeling. I recomend you to search for bmw 1 series and use the images to model the car details because I try to turn the angle of viewport as best I can but its not the same thing. I could make some video tutorials, but first of all, i don't want to upload the videos on youtube and don't ask why. The hosting serive its not cheap and nobody helps me with donations, so i will don't spend all my money on the website. Let's continue

83. As I said, i will tune a little bit this BMW model. I will make a wide fender on the rear and I will not follow some lines of the blueprint. I hope that its not very difficult for you.

84. Use bridge to create a polygon between the edges.

85. Follow the images.

86. Remove this edges

87. And also remove the vertices from those edges which you have removed

88. Be sure that you have a circular pozition of those edges

90. Select the same edges as me, then connect them

91. Continue with the car's back modeling

92. Choose "Border" from modifier list then click on the hole where the tailight will be. Then drag tot the interior

93. Select the same edges as me, then apply a 1.0 chamfer

94. Now. You need to do this in 3 spots. I will show you only at 1 spot because its the same thing. Check the edges that you hae chamfered. Zoom in to see better. You should have something like this.

95. Use target weld to weld the vertex A to vertex B. Don't use weld, but use target weld.

96. Do the same thing in those 2 spots.

97. Detach the selected polygons.

98. Hide the car's body because we will make the tail light

99. Select the back border then press Cap to close that hole.

100. Detach this polygon. Then hide everything except the polygon that you will detach.

101. Use Cut to create some edges like me.

102. Now try to make a bended shape of thet polygon by moving the vertices like in the image.

103. Use a smooth modifier to be sure that there are no imperfections on the surface, we will put the texture on it on the next tutorial.

104. Make a copy of this object ad move it a little bit forward. This copy of the object will be the glass.

105. Follow the images

106. If you search a little bit on the web for some images, you will see that here you don't need to connect. You need to do the same thing as in this image. You will understand later why. We will also need to make the car door and will be more easy to understand when we will be there.

107. We are almost done with the shape. Let's finish it, then make the details.

108. Maybe you will say that the shape of rear window will be strange, but we will modify this later . You will see.

109. I just moved the vertices a little bit. Like this you can bridge the lower polygons with the upper polygons. Sorry for that but mistakes happens, nobody is perfect. After you moved the vertices be sure that you have a nice & smooth shape.

110. Now just follow the images.

111. Select the same edges as me, then apply a 0.8 chamfer on them with the "open" box checked

112. Select all the polygons which compose the hood, then detach them.

113. Hide the rest of the car because now we will working on the hood. Select the same edges as me, then drag them down a little bit.

114. Weld the vertex A to vertex B

115. Select again those edges that you have draged down. Then apply an 0,5 chamfer.

116. Weld the front vertices as me :

117. Select the same edges as me, then apply on them a 0.5 chamfer

118. I will let the hood like this for the moment because i think that i will make a simple carbon hood. If i will fond some ideas we will modify the hood. Let's go back to the side windows to finish them. First of all, we need to weld 2 vertices

119. Now just follow the images

120. Using "border" select that hole that I have selected. Then drag it a little bit to the interior

121.Chafer the selected edges with a 0.9 chamfer, and check the Open box

122. Connect those edges.

123. Now select the same edges as me, then press bridge to create some polygons between them

124. Now try to make the rear window. I will not post the images poly by poly because its very easy and the tutorial is very long and I am very busy these days.

Hint : try to make an easy bended shape on the window and not a straight one

125. Bridge those 2 edges, then make the front side widow as you mave made the rear one. AFTER TOU HAVE MADE THE FRONT WINDOW, DELETE THE POLYGON THAT YOU HAVE CREATED BETWEEN THOSE 2 EDGES

126.Don't forget to delete this polygon

127.Chamfer the selected edges with a 0.5 chamfer.

128. Detach the selected polygons. After yoy have detach it, hide the polygons

129. Detach those polygons.

130. Now hide the polygons that you have detached. Select the same edges as me, then drag them a little bit to the interior

131. Using Bridge, create a polygon between those edges.

132. Here maybe will be a little complicated. This is my last car modeling tutorial. I wil never make another one because it takes a very long time to finish it. If you want more car modeling tutorials you should Donate .Lets go back to the tutorial. Grab the same edges, and drag them as me. Don't forget to weld the verices.

Continue like this until at the end

133. Select the same edges, then make a 0.5 chamfer on them

134. Weld those vertices usign WELD, not target weld

135. Create a new edge, using "cut"

136. Now remove this edge.

137. Using connect, create an edge like me :

138. Here will be a little difficult to see. Select the both edges on each side, then make a bridge between them using "Bridge".

139. Just chamfer those edges like ma and we are done here.

140. Unhide the door, the attach it to the body. DON'T FORGET : after you have attach it back to the body you will need to weld some vertices. I will show you which ones.

141. Welding the vertices. Maybe it will look that i am selected 1 vertex, but there are 2 vertices there. You can check that by choosing the same vertex as me, the drag it. And you will notice that. After you have did this, press CTRL+Z to undo your action.

142. Select the same vertices as me then weld them using a very low value. Like 0.25. Then check if the vertices are well welded. It is better to save your project before doing this if you don't know what are you doing.

143. Select all the polygons which compose the door then detach it (yes, again).

144. Select the same edges as me, then drag them to the interior.

145. Don't forget to weld the vertices.

146. Chamfer the selected edges. I have made some red circles where you also need to select for chamfering (in corners)

147. Use connect to create some edges like me.

148. We will make the door handle later. Now we will go to the rear bumper, to add some details. Select the same edges as me, then apply an opened chamfer.

149. Connect the same edges as me .

150. Create an edges using Cut tool.

151. Remove this edge.

152. Connect those edges.

153. Chamfer those edges with an opened chamfer and I dont think that is not necesary to explain again how to do the same thing with the space between car parts. Drag the edge to the interior the chamfer the exterior edge and corners with an 0.5 chamfer. The same thing that you have made to the door.

154. Unhide the door. Now you should have the body and the door. Select them both, then from modifier list choose "Edit Poly", then select the same edges as me. Don't forget to select the edges which are in the back (see this in the second image).

155. Now check the car's body to see if you have some triangles (like in the image) and if you have, you know how to repair the problem because i have explained this.

156. After you have chamfered the edges and you have verified if there are any problems, having the door and the body selected, right click > convert to > editable poly. Now let's go back to the rear bumper. Connect the same edges using connect. Then follow the images because its useless to explain the basics of modelingat each step. If you see some new edges, use cut or connect to create them, if some polygons are disappearing then i have delete them, after you remove some edges, dont forget to remove the vertices which are on those edges. If you have any problem, leave a comment and i will reply for anyone.

157. Ok here i will explain because it will be more easy for you to understand. Chamfer the selected egdes then put a value until the new edge is very close to those edges (see the pic.)

158. Now, weld those vertices as me.

161. Select the same vertices and drag them like I do to make this "little wing" more larger.

162. I have made a little mistake, but we will repair this in 1 minute. Remove the selected polygons.

164. Check to see if you have a vertex like me, if you have , then remove it. If not, skip this step

166. Chamfer this edge. Its ok, we need just some extra edges and vertices

168. We need to cap a hole. Check to see if you have something like that. If you have, then do like me, If not, bridge teh remaining edges. (try to don't make any triangles)

170. Again, my speciality, need to modify something. Sorry but its the first time when i model the car so, i didnt modeled thos car before then make the tutorial because i dont like to make a thing twice. Its not difficult to repair, just welding some vertices. Look at the both pitcures. The first one is before welding, and the second, after welding.

171. Follow the steps very careful. Move the vertices and check each port to not mess up the shape

172. Weld the vertices

173. Use "Weld" to weld those vertices.

174. Drag the selected edges to the interior

175. Chamfer the selected edges with an 0.5 value

176. Here you should have a triangle. Use "Weld" to weld the selected vertices.

177. Chamfer the selected edges with an 0.5 chamfer.

179. Select all the polygons which are on the rear spoiler, then detach those polygons because we need to work on the rear spoiler.

180. If you didn't deleted this polygon until now, then delete it

181.Follow the images.

182. I don't have any idea how to add more details on the rear bumper. We will make teh exhaust pipes on the side skirts. If you smooth the rear bumper you should have this

183. Weld the selected polygons (using weld)

184. Now, delete the selected polygons

185. Now, drag the edges, and weld the vertices as me

186. Do the same thing like in the front part. I will post only some images

187. Select all the polygons which are on the side skirt then detach them

189. Unhide the car's body because we need to work a little bit to the trunk. Select the same edges like me than, apply an 0,5 chamfer on them

190. Use "target weld" to weld the selected vertices.

191. Detach the selected polygons, Those ones which are on the windshield. Then do the same thing for the rear window

192. Chamfer the selected edges with an 0.5 chamfer . Be sure that you have checked the "Open" box because we will make an open chamfer.

193. Now , i will explain only for the roof. For the trunk its the same thing. Select the chamfered edges, hold shift and drag them down. Then chamfer the same edges that you have draged down with an 0.3-0.5 chamfer. Check the images

Do the same thing for the chamfered edges which are on the back (near the trunk)

194. The same proces you need to make for the windshield and read window. I will show the images only for the rear window, because its the same proces for both.

195. Let's try to make the door handle. Use connect or cut to create the edges. Then, follow the images

196. Now we need to make the side mirror , then a little detail on the side window and we are almost done. Detach the selected polygons.

197. Here you have a wireframe of my side mirror, i'm too tired to make some images. Come on, its very easy to model a side mirror. Its box modeling

197-2. By the way, i forgot the tell you to detach this polygons

198. We need to make a little detail on the side window. We need to add a "pole" (i don't know the technical name) . Just make a box and follow the images :

199. Now just select the car's body, side skirt and bumpers, then select "Edit poly" from modifier list. After you have made that, drag the same edges as me to the interior and then close them :

Having the objects still selected, right click and convert them into an editable poly. After you have converted the objects, hide them. Now attach all the object until you have a single object:

200.Use symetry to create the other part of the car, then check if all the vertices which are in the middle of the care ar welded, but before that, save your project under a different name because i will make an tutorial and i will explain how to texture it. For modeling a rim and a tyre, search on the website and you will find a tutorial. So, the tutorial is done, but only the modeling part. I will make another one and i will explain how to texture the car. I need to say that is forbidden to copy and post this tutorials on another website / blog. Ok,enought with the talking,let’s begin :

1. First lets make a plane on the top view and the position it a little bit upper :

2. Ok,convert the plane in to a Editable Poly and position that plane in the right place :

3. Now lets make the plane to fit the blueprints :

4. Connect the orizontal edges with 3 segments and the Pinch set at “24” :

5. I will post other pictures with the modeling :

Set the all vertex at “ 0 “ :

6. Select all the edge’s in the top view like me,select the “Scale Tool”(R on the keyboard) hold down Shift and on the middle of X and Y drag the edges out :

Now the place the vertex on their right place on the top view,front and right :

7. Connect this edges like in the picture :

Now put this vertex in the right place :

8. Select the same edges like me ,hold down shift and drag them out and position the vertex in the right place :

Go to “Vertex mode” and remove the same vertex .Do NOT delete them because you will delete the polygon :

Ok,as you can see those polygons are a little bit like a sheet of paper.We will need to move some vertex so that the body will be like the original :

In the next picture I will show you wich vertex will need to be moved a little bit to the right(move them how do you think it would look more aesthetic):

Now it has a nice form :

41. If you look from the top view you will see that the vertex are a little bit out :

Ok,lets move them in :

That slot shouldn’t be there,for that I have a simple solution,we will connect the following edges :

Then move the vertex in place :

44. In this step I want you to be realy attentive,look at the picture :

I have made on the actual blueprint some circles to difine the limit of some vertex,now look at the second image :

As you can see the image is not so high quality,in this situation,or in another one,you have to think and look very attentive at the original blueprint or picture to determine where to put the vertex :

45.We have resolved this issue,lets continue :

46. A realy hard part has been finished,moving on :

We have to make a modification,look at the image :

Those vertex are out a little bit,lets move them to the right,but not to much :

Now we have to move the other vertex out,look at the image :

47. Going down with the modeling :

Select all the vertex like me and drag them to the right :

48. Since a Chevy Camaro doesn’t have a sharp conture down we will add so edges so we can refine de sharpness :

Select the same edges like and then connect them :

Move the vertex like me a little bit to the right.If you don’t think it looks very aesthetical move the vertex untill you are satisfied :

49.Continue with the modeling :

Ok,now use “Cut Tool” so we can connect that vertex to the edge :

50. We have to come from the hood to the point were we are right now :

51. The hard part is finished,lets go to more hard parts . I think I will start making the roof ,and that’s what I am going to do :

52. Change in one of the viewports the view,change it to “Front” . I know,you will wonder why front and not back,because we are at the back…and I will tell you that I had always made this thing with the blueprints,put the front on the back,and the back in the front . Change the view to make sure that the vertex are all in the right place :

Yes,its in the right place for me,make sure that vertex is in the right position ,don’t budder asking for the other polygons,they are in the same place too!

53. Ok,lets continue .Please pay attention to the pictures,we don’t want to make a bad model and always check the front,rear,up and back view :

54. At this point we will continue to make the upper frame then we will continue to go down :

55. Ok,now lets make that lower part on the roof and continue to extend the edges untill its to “0” :

56. Lets start modeling the middle-front so we can finish with it :

57. At this point we will need to make some cuts... but first lets complete a hood part :

Look at the image and make sure that the 2 last vertex are to “0” :

58. Right click and choose “Cut” and make the cuts like me and then we will use “Target Weld “ to weld the vertex togheter :

60. Ok,now we will use “Cut “ again and then we will connect some edges :

62. We need to finish the fender the we will move on the back . Select the Scale tool and then drag inside the same edges like me :

Ok,now pay attention, in this next step we will make a single polygon and then detach it… We had advanced very much and if we make from the same part the whole car,in the back will be a problem.When we click and drag to select some vertex,they will be selected,but also the vertex in the front and then will brake apart the whole mesh . Follow the images :

Ok,now click on the car and hide it :

Now we have this single polygon wich we will use to make the rest of the car :

At this point we will need to move some vertex a little bit down :

Now use “Cut Tool “ and make the same cuts like me :

Ok,we had finished what was hard ! Try to mach the vertex in all views,and then wach on the model in “Perspective Mode” (P on the keyboard) !

78. Ok,lets continue .Before we start i have to tell you that I had changed the colour of the car,that green was making me angry :

Ok,now with scale tool drag the new edges inside :

Select again the “Border” Tool and select “Cap” :

Select the polygons in the interior and delete them :

At the end with the “Border” Tool selected ,select the gap and “Cap” it ,select border and add the parameters like me :

86. Lets make the front grill!Make a plane ,the size doesn’t matter :

Now make cuts like me and position the vertx in the right place :

Use “Border” Tool and drag like in the picture the gaps a little bit to the back ,follow the images :

Extrude the polygons with the next values

“Local Normal” and hight “ 5.45 “

When you finish this operation select the polygons like me and delete them :

With the “Border” Tool select like me and then with scale extrude,look at the pictures :

Now we need to delete some vertex and place other vertex in place ,I will give you pictures to se the result because it’s complicated to give you phothos with every step :

Make the shape how do you want,and I know,mine it’s rubbish!

With “Border” Tool select the gap at the front,cap it and then detach it :

88. I forgot down to add an cap wich will serve ass the glass for the light,it’s a simple process,follow the images :

89. Lets make the down part of the grill .We will need to model this out ,it’s a simple process :

With “Border” Tool drag in to the interior and then move the vertex in place .When you finish with the moving select “Border “ again and drag to the back :

I had made some cuts,the shape of the cuts doesn’t matter :

92. Lets make the exhaust pipe,you can hide the model,we don’t need it right now.Make a tube with the same values like me :

Select the same polygons like and delete them ,then move the vertex in the right position .

Attention,move all the vertex,not the one in the front !

Make a copy,use “Mirror” Tool ,select “Attach “ and attach the parts togheter ,then in vertex mode use “Weld” to weld the vertex . Wach the images :

Select the same polygons like me and delete them then use “Border” to cap and then “Bevel” it :

Use “Cut” to make a hole in the car model for the exhaust pipe :

I think you will have problems with the exhaust pipe.I hope no ! Try to make it how you can!

93. Lets make the wheel fenders ,select the same edges like me and drag them inside.Use “Bridge” to connect the edges and then cap the remaining hole :

94. If we are down here lets make the rim.If you think you can’t make this,don’t do it ! First make a plane,wach the images :

Ok,now make a copy,mirror it,attach, weld the vertex and make a cut like me .You should know to do this,you have an example at 92 .I will post you the result :

95. Ok,I will learn you a NEW metod for the chamfering at the hood and the rest,it doesn’t involve chamfer with opening ,at the basic stands “extrude” ,look at the pictures and you will understand :

If you don’t like it do it the old way,it’s you’re choice !

96. We need to add some vertex to the fenders and I will give you some photos for the mirror,its not hard to model,it’s really simple :

99. Lets make the Chevrolet Logo and the “Camaro” writing on the side of the car . I will post some pictures with the logo,its not hard to make.When you finish modeling the logo apply a FDD 3x3x3 and with the “Control Points “ option in the Modify menu drag the point of the logo to mach the model :

At the “Camaro” text it’s easy to make,simple geometry,some simple cuts and connecting the edges,no smooth will be needed for the text :

100.Last step,apply symetri and turbosmooth ,the result :

In the first picture there is my base mesh with applied symmetry only.

The next image shows how the bonnet looks with TurboSmooth x2

Now remove any symmetry modifiers and change the turbosmooth iterations to 1

Then select the object and convert it to editable poly.Note: Before you do that make sure you have your basic mesh done wit all its extruding, chamfering and so on because beyond that point there is no turning back, unless you save a backup file.

And here is what we have now, a more denser mesh which will be easier to cut and detail.

Then with the cut tool cut your desired shape in my case a vent opening.

Then I just delete what I want and connect the cut part so I end up with only 4 sided polygons. Remember it is best to avoid 3 and 5 sided polygons, try and make them all 4 sided and evenly spread.

Then I cut the other hole I want

After I am finished with the cutting I extrude the openings and then I chamfer the edges with 3 or 4 segments. The reason to do so is because while my base mesh I had chamfers with only 1 or 2 segments when I apply turbosmooth they look like they are 3-4 or even more segmented. And because we collapsed turbosmooth to editable poly we must chamfer and cut things with more segments so it looks better afterwords.

Now lets cut the circle where the emblem should be. Create a circle which to use as a guideline.

Again using the cut toll cut while trying to follow the circle shape. A specific thing while cutting circular shapes is to make sure the edges of the circle are proximately the same length, also meaning the distance between the verteces following the circle is almost the same, otherwise the circle won’t be perfectly round.

And after we are finished with all the cutting and chamfering we can add Turbosmooth with iterations set to 1. So in the end it looks exactly if we had applied turbosmooth x2 but with the benefit that now our base mesh is more detailed and easier to add details. But as I said befor after that stage it is very difficult to make adjustments to the basic shape and form of the object.

Part 2 /Fuel cap Here is again the base shape but this time I have already applied turbosmooth X1 and converted it to editable poly.

Now again with the cut tool I cut out my desired shape Then I chamfer the edges, delete the seams polygons, extrude and then chamfer the edges again, then I apply turbosmooth x1.

But I wan even more detail on my fuel cap, so I deatach the cap from the body and apply turbosmooth x1 to it and again convert it to editable poly.

Once more I cut where I need and fix the mesh so it has only 4 sided polygons.

And here is the final result.

And here is another example of what you can do with this method. For example the holes on the bonnet and on the windows are done this way, also the openings for the bolts on the rims .

In many cases you may find you can make most of the details on your base mesh without collapsing it with turbosmooth x1, but when it comes to smaller details and circular opening and cuts it is harder to do that on a lowpoly base mesh. Using this method it will be no problem to make all the fine details on a object like that rearview mirror.

1. I will explain the basics at the only at the begining. Its useless to said "Hold shift and drag" 20 times. We will start with the front bumper. We will not follow all the lines of the blueprint because we will change the body kit. Try to make the same mesh as me (the same polygons). Start by making a plane like this one :

2. Convert the plane into an editable poly. You can do this by selecting the plane, right click on him > conver to > converto to editable poly. Then you should be able to select the vertices, edges, polygons. Make the same shape like below.

3. Now select the same edges as me, hold shift and drag to make some new polygons. Make the new polygons in the same direction as me. Try to make the same thing as me :

4. You can make the plane transparent by pressing ALT+X. Do the same thing like in the step 3. Make new polygons like below

5. From here, you should be able to follow the next images without explainations because is the same thing. Hold shift and drag the edges :

6. We will move forward to make the front bumper :

7. Select these edges and then connect them. After you have select the edges, click on the little square button from "Connect" and use the same values as me.

8. Do the same step but now for these edges :

9. Again, connect these edges , using the same values like in the image

10. Keep the new edges selected, the press on the little square from the Chamfer button, and put the same value as me :

11. Grab these vertices and drag them forward. In the left viewport I have zoomed a little bit to show you what vertices you need to select

12. Watch on the top viewport and you will see that the bumper lip don't have a round shape. Move the vertices as below to make the shape round :

13. At this step you just need to delete the polygons showed in the image

14. Select the same edges and drag them to the interior to make that hole in the middle of teh bumper

15. Now we will add a little detail of the front lip. Connect these edges with the same amount :

16. Select the Vertex button (that one with 3 dots which allow you to select the vertices), right click and choose "Cut", then create an edge between selected vertices

17. Grab these vertices and drag them down a little bit to make a better shape of the lip

18. Let's go back to the upper part and start modeling the hood. Like before, hold shift and drag and you should be able to follow the images :

23. We are done with the body of the car. Now we will move forward and we will model the windshield . Try to make the same mesh as me, like this you will not have bumps on the surface. Below you have some images with my mesh :

24. If you will apply a smooth modifier on the car, you should have something like this (if you have made the same mesh as me)

25. As I said at the begginig of the this tutorial. Its not very detailed like the other tutorials. In this tutorial you need to know the basics of 3D modeling. The next thing that I have made on this car was the rear spoiler. Below you have a mesh of this part. Just lift up the vertices from the center of the rear bumper, then connect the vertical edges of the bottom to create the width of the extruded part, then extrude the bottom poligons. Here you have my mesh :

26 . The holes in the fenders are optional. If you don't want , don't make them . The next thing that I have made after the rear bumper was the space betwee the parts of the car. First you need to select the edges which represent the space between the parts, then chamfer that edge (or those edges if there are more). In the chamfer box,don't forget to check the "OPEN" box. This will split the polygons and it will make the space between the car's parts. After you have splited the car parts, select the edges which are the limit of the car parts, hold shift and drag them to the interior of the car... below you have an image with what you should have after you drag the edges to the interior :

27. Now, select the edges that you used befor to create new ones which you have draged to the interior, and chamfer them with a small amount. Don't forget that you also need to chamfer the sharp corners in the same time so, when you select the edges to chamfer, you also need to select the edge from the corner . You should have your mesh like below :

Do the same thing for the hood, bumpers, etc.

28. For the side windows I've just connected the polygons which surround the hole for the windows. Like below :

29. After you have made the side windows, detach them from the body, like this you will not be forced to chamfer the border of the window.

30. Between those 2 side windows, just make a bodx, and chamfer all the edges with a very small chamfer amount, like below :

31. To make the lines of the body kit, chamfer this edges. If you didn't made the holes in the fenders select only the edges from the step 31

32. If you have made the holes in the fenders, you also need to select these edges and chamfer them in the same time with the lines from the bodykit. If you already chamfered the edges from the step 31, press CTRL+Z to undo the select these edges too (don't forget to chamfer these edges with a small amount, like 2.5) :

33. Check the all the chamfered edge to see if you have something like below, because if you have, you need to weld 2 vertices to have a better mesh when you will use a smooth modifier :

34. Well, if you have, just select the vertices selected below and press weld. If the vertices are not welding after you have pressed on the weld button, click on the little square from weld and increase the amount.
